NEW DATA YIELDS NEW INSIGHTS

With any system, transformations are made to data. Cloud computing is much more transparent than monolithic legacy on-premise systems. The cloud breaks activities down into discrete functions, so there are fewer dependencies. As a result, there is a vast amount of log data generated, especially from the interactions and transformations associated with web services. Enterprise Value Integration (EVI) extracts this log data to gain new insights on consumption of resources by customers throughout each state of a process. In terms of analysis, this is a revolution.

NEW INSIGHTS ON CUSTOMERS

EVI uses internal data from the cloud, but most CIOs don’t think to use it to support the needs of the CMO. EVI closes the gap between CIO and CMO. Contemporary marketing analytics fall into two categories: prescriptive and predictive; both are designed to accelerate transactions or keep customers engaged. EVI offers a third alternative: deep profitability analysis, for the purpose of better segmenting existing customers, and determining what they need. This enables mass customization. Each customer can only be delighted when you take the time to understand them.

NEW INSIGHTS ON VALUE

EVI delivers the analytic architecture to support a superior brand experience, while also generating more profitability for investors. We have developed a mobile web app (see below) to help you quickly assess how much more value you can drive to the bottom line, while also meeting and exceeding expectations of customers based on the brand promise. This will allow you to look at branding in a radically new way. Cutting costs everywhere is not the answer to creating more value for customers, but there are many processes and resources that do not contribute to keeping the brand promise.

BRAND PROMISE > BUSINESS PROCESSES

With our organization, BPM means Brand Promise Management as well as Business Process Management. Thinking of them as two sides of the same coin is the only way to integrate them together.

BUSINESS PROCESSES > WEB SERVICES

From an IT perspective, there are two types of processes: Computer and Business. Both define how Web Services perform tasks. Web Services that perform BPM tasks are mssion-critical for creating Customer Value.

WEB SERVICES > CLOUD COMPUTING

Web Services are the basic building blocks of Cloud Computing. EVI makes it possible to elastically meet consumer demand at-scale. EVI brings a deep knowledge of branding and enterprise architecture to client engagements.

BUSINESS PROCESSES > REA

Each process can be measured using a proven technology known as Resources-Events-Agents (REA). This is already being used by organizations such as Bain Capital, Panera Bread, Best Western, Yale University, and ChristianaCare Health System.

REA > CLOUD COMPUTING

REA does require significant computing resources, but that is why cloud computing is vital to enable organizations to understand their cost centers and focus on improving Brand Promise Management. Workday is one of the leading SaaS vendors of REA.

CLOUD COMPUTING > AGILITY

The Cloud offers the ability to rapidly modify and test processes and web services at scale. This ability to adapt what a company does enables it to not only deliver more effectively on Brand Promises but to drive more value for shareholders.

CONVERSATIONS WITH IBM PARTNER KIP TWITCHELL: MEASURING VALUE WITH EVI AND REA

William McCarthy developed Resources-Events-Agents (REA), an event-based accounting system designed to measure input, transformations, and outputs of business processes. (See Lecture 5 on Cost Accounting in the series Advancing Business Architecture with EVI). Kip Twitchell work with Richard Roth at PWC Consulting to develop the first commercial application of REA. IBM acquired PWC Consulting in 2002 and the event-based system now called Scalable Architecture for Financial Reporting (SARF). His team advanced REA to include Locations, making it REAL. Kip’s experience is unlike any other and explains how REA in four videos.

I had the opportunity to participate in this year's Open Confidential Computing Conference (OC3), hosted by our software partner, Edgeless Systems. This year's event was particularly noteworthy due to a panel discussion on the impact and future of confidential computing. The panel featured some of the industry's most respected technology leaders including Greg Lavender, Chief Technical Officer at Intel, Ian Buck, Vice President of Hyperscale and HPC at NVIDIA, and Mark Papermaster, Chief Technical Officer at AMD.

WEB SERVICES (AWS)

Industries like automotive, robotics, and finance are increasingly implementing computational workloads like simulations, machine learning (ML) model training, and big data analytics to improve their products. For example, automakers rely on simulations to test autonomous driving features, robotics companies train ML algorithms to enhance robot perception capabilities, and financial firms run in-depth analyses to better […]
